About Balson Pest Control

The idea for Balson Pest Control came from Paul’s own challenges and concerns with protecting his home against these invasive pests.​

In 2012, Paul purchased a new home with in the quaint town of Elora. After a few months of ownership it was brought to his attention that there was a significant termite issue within their community and further learned that Fergus, Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, and parts of the GTA are faced with termite issues and that insurance does not cover the damages incurred by these pests. Knowing that termite problems in his house could decrease the value of his home and lead to costly repairs,  Paul began the journey on discovering a solution that would protect homes in an environmentally safe and permanent way.

 

After months of researching solutions in Canada, the only treatment that was discovered was a harsh chemical product that was injected into the ground around the perimeter of the home or property affected. The effects that this would have on the environment from soils to water tables was alarming,  In addition to not having great results the estimated protection life to a home treated with this product ranged from 1 year to 5 years. The cost involved to treat using this method ranged from $3000 to $5000, a pretty heavy cost for solutions that had very little life expectancy.​

After months of research and little progress, Paul decided to take the search for a solution south of the border to the United States. Knowing that the southern states were ravaged by termites this is where the search truly began. After some time and many conversations he came across an organization called Nisus Corp. who carry a product named Bora Care. A product that treats for termites, carpenter ants and wood boring beetles. Thinking this was too good to be true, Paul dug into the science behind the product. To his excitement, he found that the product had been in existence for 15 years! The most exciting part was The Canadian Federal Government had just approved the product for use in Canada. The Bora Care product is designed to be installed directly to the wood structure of a home, fence, deck, shed, or barn.

Driven by passion to take a solution that worked for his family, Paul began a business called Balson Termite Solutions. A company committed to protecting the homes and communities they live in!

 

In response to multiple requests Paul, Shannon, and their growing team began to serve the Southern Georgian Bay, Muskoka and surrounding areas in 2016. With a focus and drive to become experts on waterfront properties, their goal is to provide pest free environments for people they serve. As their team and client base continues to grow, Balson Pest Control and Balson Termite Solutions strive for excellence in service and is determined to provide solutions to their customers.
